CALL FOR ART + Exhibitors – The Arts Council for Wyoming County is seeking art submissions for its inaugural Festival Art Exhibition for this year’s 10th annual Fiber Flurry Arts Festival through Midnight on Saturday, March 23. “Different Fibers” will open to the public on April 12 in the first floor gallery at the Arts Council for Wyoming County and will be on view through April 27. Exhibiting Artist Jeannine Mullan Accepted to Yale for Graduate Studies

BSA Exhibiting Artist Jeannine Mullan has been accepted into the Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and will be attending full time beginning in September.  Yale’s multi-disciplinary curriculum allows Mullan to take courses in all of the Arts and in one Science department: Geology. Jeannine Mullan is an experimental mixed media artist who lives and works in Buffalo.  She is a graduate of the Maine Media College of Film and Photography with an MFA in Visual Arts. ”As a visual artist, my process of making is anchored in flexibility.  With a focus on raw materials, I gather materials from the earth and research them. Tami Fuller to Lead Ebru Marbling Workshop at WNY Book Arts Feb. 28

Exhibiting Artist Tami Fuller will lead a 2-hour beginnner’s class on the basics of Ebru Marbling at the WNY Book Arts Center on Wednesday, Feb. 28, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Ebru, originating in Turkey between the 13-15th c. as an adaptation of previous Suminagashi and “painting on water” traditions of 8-12c China and Japan, is commonly referred to as Marbling in the west, where is most commonly associated with end pages (originally used to prevent forgeries and erasure and eventually adopted to include ledger edges). Fuller assisted her mother in her marbling studio, working with silk and satin, as a youth. She currently makes use of these skills, together with Suminagashi technique, as part of a “Music made Visible” vibrational soundscapes study. This class…

Tami Fuller to Teach Weaving Intensive at Springville Center for the Arts

Exhibiting Artist Tami Fuller and the Springville Center for the Arts announce a four-hour Learn to Weave weaving intensive in the Olmsted Gallery on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This workshop will offer the opportunity to learn a complete primer for weaving and create modern abstract woven tapestry on a simple frame loom. This workshop is Fuller’s first 4-hour intensive offered in Western New York, and is part of SCA’s educational programming surrounding its fiber art exhibition “Community Threads,” on view through March 27.
